Cnr Cafe is one of Jozi's most popular restaurants. We are famous for our fresh and delicious food and our own house blend of coffee and home-made desserts are firm favourites with our customers. Cnr Cafe is a community gathering place that inspires conversation and quality time over great food. It is our intention that everyone who visits Cnr leaves feeling like a local.
The journey of Cnr Cafe began back in 2003. Greig Walker was just a waiter at Espresso at the time. He boldly started a business partnership as Chef Patron of Cnr Cafe. He opened the doors with no waiters and only a small 40 seater space. In those days, Greig was the chef, front of house and restaurant manager, head waiter and general everything. After 4 months, Cnr was able to buy itself 3 umbrellas and 3 round tables to create an outside area. Within a year, a few more tables were added and by 2007, after buying out his partners, Greig became the sole owner of Cnr Cafe.

I have often driven past and wanted to pop in, so was very glad to join a group of fellow foodies for a yummy dinner, hosted by Zomato and The Glass Recycling Company this week.

Cnr Cafe boasts a large outdoor patio area, as well as an extensive indoor area - open, light and airy.
The theme of the evening was greening, and getting more restaurants to recycle their glass, and the decor lent itself to that perfectly with shelving and quaint artifacts, with the hosts bringing in beautiful bottles for the table, and a great trio that played popular music on glass bottles - very cool!

We had a set menu for the evening, but the food was delicious - we shared some vegetable crisps and dip, a delicious prosciutto with padano cheese shavings and spring onions, and foccacia breads for starters, with each person ordering their main courses off the set menu.

My pepper calamari and fries was delicious, yet very peppery, my dining companions enjoyed their dishes immensely - the broth, fillet and samp and the grilled haloumi and asian salad sandwich were hits.

I would love to return for breakfast - and I believe the pizza’s are really good - so I do believe this warrants a return visit, and as I love the setting, I can’t wait!

Really great early lunch spot last Saturday. Understandable why it’s so busy: great service and great food. My pizza was an unusual combination of lemon marinated artichokes and prosciutto with rocket. Simply delicious. Attentive staff and great environment which made up for not being able to sit outside (on condition of it being completely full). Highly recommended.

Popular spot in Craighall. I keep returning for their bacon and avo pasta which is delightful. Their puddings were also delicious. Nice option for a relaxed but not too relaxed meal with consistently good food.
